Hello, I'm Neil Miller, and this is the home page of millersql.com, my website. Welcome :)
Work: I am an experienced Data Engineer, SQL Developer, and SQL Server Database Administrator, and I work as an independent contractor for clients in the UK and overseas.
Projects: I also work on my own IT projects, including my aerial photos website wingvista.org, my machine learning stock prediction project "Leopard", and several other things when I get some free time.
Flying: I love flying, and have a UK NPPL private pilot's licence, and a share in a small light aircraft based near Andover in Hampshire.
Aug 2025: On the work side, things seem to have falled off a cliff. I finished my last contract in June 2024, and have not worked since, which is a bit concerning. Normally I find work by sending my CV to agencies, and applying through websites like jobserve.com. But this approach no longer seems to be working. Although saying that, I have had five interviews in the past 12 months, so it is not a complete disaster yet. Therefore I'm trying an alternative approach which I have read about, which is to be more proactive: Writing articles on social media like LinkedIn, sending messages to people in the industry to try and form a connection, and learning new skills that I have identified as growing in demand. I have no idea whether this will work, as efforts along these lines have failed in the past, but I have a hunch it will work this time (famous last words!). Wish me luck! So if you have any work that needs to be done where you feel I might have the required skills and experience, do please get in touch by email, to: neilm@millersql.com
